Review of Yellow Wife Novel

The story takes place in the 1960s in South Africa, during apartheid. It follows two girls: one who is white and another who is black. The white girl is named Sarah and lives with her parents in Johannesburg. Her parents are very wealthy, and they own a big house that they live in with their servants (people who do all the work for them).

The black girl is named Esme, and she lives on a farm mile away from Johannesburg with her mother and father. They work as sharecroppers for Sarah’s family (they work for money). Sarah and Esme became friends when they were young children. Still, their friendship ends when Esme moves away with her family because of work problems caused by apartheid laws.

When Sarah goes off to university, she meets someone new named Michael and immediately falls in love with him. She wants to marry him as soon as possible but then discovers later that he has been cheating.
