Review of To Kill a Kingdom Book

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo is a fun and poetic retelling of the story of Medusa. The book follows the story of Princess Ariadne. She must kill the sea god Poseidon to save her kingdom from destruction. At first, she is reluctant to do so. Still, after finding herself in many precarious situations, she decides that she must end his life.

I enjoyed this book because it’s a different take on the classic tale of Medusa. The author did not just follow the traditional story but gave it an original spin that I found pretty enjoyable. There were some things that I didn’t like about this book, though, such as how many times Ariadne got into trouble while trying to kill Poseidon.

I also felt like there wasn’t enough character development in the beginning. However, once Ariadne started getting closer to killing Poseidon and realized what she had been doing wrong all along, her character grew significantly throughout the rest of the book, making me enjoy it more than I would have if she hadn’t changed at all over time.
