Review of A Man Called Ove PDF
This book has been on my radar for a while now. I have seen it mentioned in so many book reviews and on social media that I knew it was only a matter of time before I read it. I am so glad I did because this is one of the best books I have read this year.
A Man Called Ove is about an older man living alone in a small town outside Stockholm. He wakes up every day at 5 am and goes for his morning walk in the park across from his house. At 6:30 am, he walks to his neighbor’s house to get milk and bread before leaving for work at 7:30 am.
Every evening he comes home from work at 4 pm. He drives around town picking up pizza or Chinese food for dinner before going home to eat alone in front of the television or reading his newspaper until bedtime at 10 pm when he goes to sleep with his cat curled up next to him under the covers on his bed.
The story begins when a new family moves into Ove’s street, which causes quite a stir amongst the other residents because they are different from them (in fact, they are Swedes). Their presence causes friction.
